Dr. Janet Allen has been a professional mental health counselor since 1989 and is the Clinical Director of Creekside Counseling. She works with adults who present with a variety of issues and concerns. Depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma recovery, couple’s counseling, and personal growth are her primary areas of focus. She has also developed a special interest in working with area First Responders (Law Enforcement and Fire/EMS). Dr. Allen draws upon various counseling models (CBT; DBT; EMDR) and implements an array of therapeutic interventions.
In addition to counseling, Dr. Allen is a Certified Life Coach, a yoga instructor, and is trained in mediation and conflict resolution. She has extensive experience teaching mental health topics and enjoys developing presentations and workshops to suit the needs of specific audiences. She also has a TEDx talk on ‘Resilience’ that can be accessed online.
Dr. Allen believes that human potential is nearly limitless, and that healthy, meaningful relationships serve as the foundation for mental health and emotional wellness. She believes that personal struggles are not problems to be endured, but rather they present an opportunity to learn, grow, and become the better version of ourselves. She believes that in creating a supportive, therapeutic environment, people can explore their lives and acquire the necessary insight and skill to confront obstacles and move toward achieving their goals.
Her message is one of living authentically, courageously, and congruently with a sense of intentionality, connection, and purpose. On a personal note: Along with her husband, Janet enjoys living in the area with her four grown children and their families. She finds fulfillment in pursuing her own goals, practicing yoga, listening to live music, and going on long hikes in The Tetons.
