Dr. Gracie Hargraves

Doctor of Counseling and Counselor Education

Dr. Hargraves has been working in the field of mental health since 1974, beginning with her service in the United States Navy as a Neuropsychiatric Technician administering psychological testing to repatriated prisoners of the Vietnam War. Gracie earned her Doctor of Education degree in Counseling and Counselor Education, also at Idaho State University in 1996. Upon the successful completion of that degree, and following several more years in private practice, Gracie and her family moved to Pensacola, Florida. Gracie worked for the Department of the Navy in the field of family advocacy, particularly including domestic violence issues and both child physical abuse and neglect. She returned to Idaho and currently is a full time Counselor at Creekside Counseling. Gracie’s areas of emphasis include depression and anxiety disorders, post traumatic stress disorder, trauma recovery, domestic violence, divorce recovery, conflict resolution, same sex orientation, binge eating disorder, and grief and loss issues. She works with couples to enhance their relationship and families to reunite and strengthen broken bonds. She easily establishes relationships with children and adolescents.

Gracie believes that individuals and families can successfully make positive changes as a result of insights and decisions which she respectfully has the opportunity to help facilitate. She is continually involved in specialized training in a variety of areas pertinent to mental health counseling. Though Gracie's passion is counseling, she also loves to teach/train on a variety of subjects which include but are not limited to stress management, divorce recovery, depression and anxiety, child, adolescent and adult developmental issues, conflict resolution, domestic abuse, emotional eating, grief and loss issues and bettering one's marriage. She has created laughter in many an audience or classroom while she provides the necessary information.

Gracie has traveled to many parts of the world and has learned from the various cultures she has lived in. A highlight of her life was walking on the Great Wall of China. Currently, Dr. Hargraves resides in Idaho Falls, Idaho with her husband.
